Timara Osawamick is a Toronto-raised artist working across many mediums, including sewing and painting. She is a fancy shawl dancer and a member of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. Her practice is grounded in land, community, and care. Reconnecting with her culture and community has rekindled a creative spirit that had been waiting to return. For Timara, creating is medicine: it nourishes her spirit and brings her home to herself. Time spent with the land and her culture is how she finds connection, belonging, and healing. She sees art as a way to build relationships with people, with place, and with the living world, and she carries that spirit into her community-based design and engagement work.

Timara also works as Program Coordinator at SpruceLab and her participation in the Earth Tending program deepened her relationship with Indigenous land-based work, permaculture, and reciprocal approaches to caring for the land.
